New Braintree Select Board set a town referendum on a proposed cell tower lease for town property. Harmoni Towers proposed leasing 100-foot-by-100-foot of land behind the Highway Barn for a 150-foot monopole at $1,250 monthly with 1.5 percent annual increases over 50 years. Before advancing to required permits and public hearing, the board scheduled a non-binding referendum at the Annual Town Meeting to gauge community interest.

Abutters Sarah Durham and Craig Winer opposed the project. The board also conditionally approved a Service Agreement with Garage for fire truck disposition, voting 2-0-1 with Dennis Letendre, Jr. abstaining due to conflict; approval requires confirming the 10 percent commission is buyer-paid and updating the signature to Joseph Chenevert.
