NEW BRAINTREE — Select Board discussed legal fee constraints and cost recovery. The Finance Committee had frozen the legal budget at $15,000 for fiscal 2027 due to budget limits. With Chair Dennis Letendre, Jr and Vice Chair Joseph Chenevert present, the board planned a new procedure requiring legal requests through Executive Secretary Rebecca Acerra for board approval.
The board discussed elevated legal costs from the Highway Barn project and Highway Department unionization, and planned to recoup fees from the Highway Barn contractor due to "complete and total inadequacy." Clerk Michael McQueston was absent.
